How to turn your living room into a Movie Theater

Tired of the same expensive Saturday night movie theaters with annoying people disturbing your movie experience? Want to have your own private theater to enjoy with your loved ones? Here are some tips on how you can transform your Living room into "The Big Screen"!

Grab your popcorn and let's get to it.

Step 1 - Background wall

Keep the TV wall plain colored or a simple pattern, you can either paint the wall or put up wallpaper to achieve the desired look. Keep the background of the TV clear from distractions like decorative pieces, paintings or pictures.

Step 2 - Lights

Install dim-able lights for the overall look and feel of a home theater. You can even step it up a notch and install LED strip lights that connect to the TV and change color according to the movie you are watching.

Step 3 - Flooring

Lay out a carpet on the floor to give a cozy feel and helps in absorbing some of the sounds to avoid echos in the room. Your pets will also love it in the winters!

Step 4 - Curtains

Install a few "Block-out" curtains to block out any natural light from windows and doors, these curtains also double up as sound barriers to avoid sound leaking in or out from your room.

Step 5 - Sound system

Last but not the least, get yourself a good surround sound system. Preferably, a 5.1 or 7.1 Home theater system works well for recreating the big screen effect. Also, make sure you have a good flat screen TV that can be mounted on the wall.
